Ethics FAQs

Answer:

Ethical review can take up to six weeks, so it is important that you plan your research accordingly and submit your application in good time. The initial review normally takes 2-3 weeks and the Senior Research Ethics Administrator will write to you as soon as the Committee has reviewed your application. At this stage your research may be approved outright or given ‘provisional approval’, which means the Committee needs more information from you in order to give approval or they may ask you to make some changes.

Ethics review can take longer for complex applications.

The University closes for some national holidays such as Christmas, Easter and over Bank Holidays. Extra time should be allowed when applying for ethical review during these times.
