UN Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. There are over 9,000 business and 3,000 non-business members. In the UK, there are 25 academic institutions, with the University of Leeds being one of them, next to UCL, Manchester, Oxford or LSE.

The UN Global Compact is a call to organisations to adopt sustainable and socially responsible polices and align strategies and operations with Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. It encourages organisations to take strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.

By singing up to the UN Global Compact, the University is required to provide a biennial submission of a Communication on Engagement (COE).
