Information for students

Ethical review is needed for all research with ethical issues, for example, research involving human participants, personal data or adverse environmental impact. A favourable opinion from a recognised ethics committee is needed before the research can start.

The ethical review process is normally completed within six weeks, so make sure you allow enough time for it.

Discuss the ethical issues with your supervisors and make sure they are happy with your approach to addressing the issues.

Once your application is ready to be submitted ask your supervisor to check and sign it before submitting it.
