Symplectic publications database
Symplectic Elements (often referred to as “Symplectic”) is the University’s database of research outputs. It is a requirement of the University’s Publications Policy that outputs are reported via this database. Professional activities (including public engagement) may also be recorded in Symplectic.
The database is available to any member of academic or research staff and to postgraduate research students.
Symplectic is the source of outputs information for the University’s submissions to research assessment exercises. Reporting public engagement activity via the professional activities section of IRIS helps the completion of the annual Higher Education Statistics Agency’s (HESA) Business and Community Interactions survey. See the Library website for advice on deposting research outputs in Symplectic.
